What? Who?

A perpetual cycle of finding myself, only to lose myself again, devoured most of my free time last year. I did not write or read nearly as much as I aimed for and there's no way of reliably predicting that 2019 will be any different. Right now, my self-confidence is on the upswing, and it looks like my niche is being carved out. Past behaviour, however, is the best predictor of future behaviour, so I won't be too surprised to find myself over-thinking and screwing myself over more than once before this New Year is through. This is why I decided to ride out this high and instead of bothering too much with resolutions, I worked through my 1000+ unread personal emails. One of them was a recent newsletter from  The What , and now I cannot stop listening to The Hu. No. Not 'The Who'. The HU:

From 5KM to 10KM (Part 1)

Boot Camp Weeks 11 - 15 [1 January - 4 February 2018] The Numbers : Day 14 = weighed in for Boot Camp registration and another 0.6kg down.                    ≈4.1kg ↓ so far Day 15 =  Boot Camp  starts Day 28 = completed my 2nd 7.5 km hike Additional Notes/Comments : A great opportunity fell into my lap - a free 4 week fitness boot camp just became available via Facebook. I had some residual aches & pains that I first had to get checked out, but as soon as the GP gave me the all clear, I tackled my first ever body boot camp. My diet has gone to hell, so I've been too scared to weigh in as well. Trying to muster up my courage, because I'm expecting to have gained all of the weight I lost over Nov & Dec 2017... *Disclaimer: I am not a health/medical professional. This lifestyle plan was developed to suit me personally (I suffer from PCOS & insulin resistance and I'm on...

Being Good in Bed & Other Unwholesome Habits

How are those New Year's Resolutions working out for you? Sticking to my new  morning routine is one that continued to kick my ass right into October. I was pretty motivated to kick off my newly designed routine but a few weeks into 2017 it tanked. Hard. Living comfortably is a privilege not afforded to many and all things considered, I must admit that my life actually is quite plush. I have room to be lazy in, including - but not limited to - sleeping in almost daily. Maybe that's how I got all fluffed up. (I literally - and I do mean LITERALLY - piled on the body mass of an average sized person*, except it was all excess fat.) The Why Whatever the reason(s) behind my massive weight gain over the past 15 years, I've finally had enough when it dawned on me that although weight has nothing to do with worth or beauty, lab results are the kind of numbers you need to pay attention to (more on this later). I was done with my lack of discipline. I was done with unhe...

2016: My Year In Books

Image
Is it a common problem for bookworms to feel like they're not reading enough, or is it just me? My perpetually growing list of 'Books to Read' is not helping either. Fortunately, Goodreads' annual roundup put things in perspective for me.           Here's what my year in books looked like: For more information and reviews on any of these titles, refer to  my 2016 shelf . Have  you  heard about Goodreads yet? It's  the  online community for book lovers, with a very handy smartphone app. Initially, I used my  online profile  purely for tracking purposes - what I've read, what I still want to read, etc. That was back in 2010. These days, I'm using it to post and read reviews, save or search quotes, find gift inspiration, keep stock of my personal library, follow author blogs, learn about new books published, and set annual reading challenges for myself. Their app is also quite nifty. My fav...

Work Space 2016

Image
Despite battling an unexpected summer cold, my 2015 ended on a mushy, comfortable high. Yesterday afternoon I surrendered to a surge of inspiration and we rearranged the lounge furniture for about an hour. After numerous tries, we finally got it just right, but our nerdy satisfaction didn't end there. We then went to visit Lucy  &  Lilly *, ordered a take-away roadhouse dinner, and settled in with Pan's Labyrinth to ring in the New Year. I hope this feeling of utter contentment lasts throughout most of 2016, and that the new writing nook will spurt forth a wealth of creativity. *Their mother died last week - due to the owners' shameful neglect. They were only about three or four weeks old. Luckily we have a wonderful surrogate mother within our circle of human friends and all six pups are doing very well, but we feel that these two are still too small to leave their siblings to come home with us. We'll give them another week or so.

Happy New Year!

Cheers 2015!

Before we pop on over into the New Year this week, let's take a few minutes to look back on 2015 with a weirdly smooth mashup.
